CDL driver recruiting with Facebook and Instagram ads
For recruiters and marketers who hire CDL drivers through Meta ads and want candidates who actually show up for interviews. You will learn what to put in the creative, how to move people into a conversation, what Meta requires from job ads, and how to optimize on qualified events.
What it does
Drivers scroll Facebook and Instagram between loads, so the creative has about a second to say what the job is. Lead with the job type and the condition a driver cares about most — route type, home time, equipment — in the image or the first seconds of a video, then repeat it in the primary text. Real trucks, real drivers and your actual yard usually say more than stock photos of smiling models, and short vertical videos fit Reels and Stories. List the basic requirements, such as CDL class and experience, so people who do not qualify filter themselves out. Do not write pay you cannot confirm: a number that does not match the offer brings chats that end at the first call.
Many drivers would rather send a message than fill in a form, so make the next step a conversation. You can run click-to-message ads that open Messenger or WhatsApp, or send people to a short page with Telegram, WhatsApp and call buttons. The trade-off is measurement: a chat opened straight from the ad never visits your site, so a script on the page cannot see it, while a page lets you count every button click together with its campaign marks. Whichever route you choose, reply fast and have recruiters ask the same qualifying questions every time, so the outcome of each conversation can be recorded consistently.
Meta treats job offers as a special ad category. In its help, Employment covers ads that offer or link to job opportunities, including full-time and part-time work, and related promotions such as job boards and hiring events. Meta requires advertisers to declare the category for such ads in the United States; check its help for where else the requirement applies. Ads that should carry the category but do not can be rejected. With Employment declared, targeting is limited: age and gender stay open, location cannot be narrowed to ZIP codes and has a minimum radius, many detailed targeting options and exclusions are unavailable, and lookalike audiences cannot be used. The rules change, so read Meta's current Special Ad Categories pages before you launch.
Optimizing on the cheapest lead teaches Meta to find people who tap buttons, not people who get hired. A practical path: optimize on contacts while volume is low, but judge results by cost per interview rather than cost per lead; once interviews are frequent enough for the learning phase, build a custom conversion from the interview event and test optimizing on it. AdAce Ads supplies that signal. Its lead tracking script records clicks with Meta click marks (fbc, fbp), and when a lead is marked “interview” or “hired”, the service sends an Interview or Hire server event through the Conversions API with the click mark and a hashed lead id — no personal data. AdAce Ads never sets the special ad category automatically: whether a campaign is an employment ad is your call, and you declare it yourself.
Why it helps
- Creatives that state the job, the route and the requirements up front.
- A clear choice between in-app chats and a tracked landing page.
- An honest picture of what the Employment category allows.
- Interview and hire events reach Meta without names, phones or emails.
- Cost per interview by campaign and by candidate language.
How to set it up
- Decide whether your ads offer jobs and, if so, declare the Employment special ad category on the campaign; AdAce Ads never sets it for you.
- Install the lead tracking script from “Analytics” → “Leads” on the page your ads link to.
- Write primary texts and headlines with the AI text assistant in the language of each ad set, within Meta's recommended lengths.
- Mark each lead with the Telegram buttons — “wrote”, “interview”, “hired” or “not a fit” — so Interview and Hire events reach Meta.
- Open “Campaigns” → “Creatives” to compare spend and cost per result of every image and video over 7, 30 or 90 days.
Good to know
- A chat opened directly from an ad bypasses your site, so the tracking script does not count it.
- Meta needs a steady weekly volume of optimization events to leave the learning phase; check its current guidance before optimizing on interviews.
- Because only the click mark and a hashed lead id are sent, Meta can link fewer events to people than it could with contact details; that is a deliberate privacy choice.
