Facebook ads in multiple languages: one ad set per language
If your customers or candidates speak different languages in the same country, one mixed ad rarely works. This guide shows how to build one Meta campaign with a separate ad set for each language and how to compare the languages fairly.
What it does
Meta lets you target people by the language they use on Facebook or Instagram. The setting lives at the ad set level, so the clean structure is one campaign for the goal and one ad set per language, each with its own creatives. Every language then gets its own delivery, budget and line in the report. If you put several languages into one ad set with mixed ads, Meta chooses for you: it pushes whichever ad gets cheap clicks, and you never learn whether Spanish speakers ignored your offer or simply never saw it.
Language targeting works on the interface language people have chosen, not on the language they speak at home. Someone who speaks Russian but uses Facebook in English falls into your English ad set. Meta itself suggests adding a language only when it is not common in the location, so a main ad set without a language filter plus narrower ad sets for less common languages is a valid setup too. Expect overlap: Meta avoids entering two of your ad sets into the same auction for one person, so a broad ad set can take delivery from a narrow one. Some languages appear as regional variants; pick the broad option unless you need a specific one. Under a special ad category such as employment, check the current Meta policy for which targeting options remain.
Each ad set needs ads written natively in its language, not a machine-translated slogan: headline, primary text, image text and landing page should all match. Send every language to its own page version, for example with a ?lang= parameter, so a visitor does not land on English after reading a Russian ad. For a fair comparison give each language its own ad set budget; with a campaign-level budget Meta moves money towards the cheapest results, and a smaller language may barely spend. Then compare cost per result and, more importantly, what happens after the lead: a language with cheap clicks and no interviews is not cheap.
AdAce Ads can create a Meta multi-language campaign: one campaign with an ad set for each language you choose. Texts for each language can come from the AI text assistant, which drafts Meta primary text, headline and description in English, Russian, Ukrainian or Spanish within the recommended lengths, and for truck driver hiring also from the “Texts from template” buttons. The link of an existing ad can be changed with a one-click language parameter (lang=ru/uk/en/es) through an approved proposal. The lead tracking script records the page language with each lead, and “Analytics” → “Leads” shows cost per interview and per hire by candidate language.
Why it helps
- Each language gets its own audience, budget and results line.
- Ads and landing pages speak the same language as the viewer's interface.
- Comparisons go beyond clicks to interviews and hires by language.
- Texts in four languages are drafted within Meta's recommended lengths.
How to set it up
- Choose the languages and prepare a landing page version for each, reachable with ?lang=.
- Create a Meta multi-language campaign in AdAce Ads with one ad set per language.
- Draft the ads for each ad set with the AI text assistant in that language and review them.
- Install the lead tracking script from “Analytics” → “Leads” on the site.
- Approve enabling the ad sets with your password and second factor.
- Once leads accumulate, compare cost per interview and per hire by language.
Good to know
- Interface language is not the same as native language: bilingual people land in whichever ad set matches their app settings.
- Small languages need time; do not judge a language on a handful of leads.
- Changing the link of a Meta ad creates a copy of the creative with the new link, which is reviewed again and restarts learning.
- You can start free: the Free plan includes two ad accounts and 50 calls from AI assistants a month. Paid plans start at $29 a month. Ad budget is paid to Google and Meta directly.
