How much do Facebook ads cost for a small business?
There is no fixed price for Facebook ads: you set the budget, and Meta spends within it. What changes is how much each result — a lead, an order, a message — costs you. That is the number to watch.
What you actually pay for
On Facebook and Instagram you set a daily or a lifetime budget. Meta runs an auction for every ad slot, so the price of a thousand impressions, a click or a lead changes with the audience, the season and how many other businesses want to reach the same people. With a daily budget Meta may spend a little more on good days, but over a calendar week it stays within seven times the daily amount.
So the useful question is not “how much is an ad” but “how much does a result cost me”. That is your cost per result: spend divided by the leads, orders or other events you care about. It only makes sense when tracking works — the Meta pixel has to see the lead or the purchase.
What makes results cheaper or more expensive
- Audience: a narrow audience in a competitive city costs more per impression than a broad one.
- Offer and landing page: a clear price, good photos and a short form turn clicks into leads and lower the cost per lead.
- Creative: fresh, specific images and texts get attention; the same ad shown too often gets more expensive.
- Season: prices usually rise before big holidays and sales, when many advertisers compete.
- Goal: optimizing for leads or purchases costs more per click than for traffic, but brings people who act.
How to choose a starting budget
- Work out what a customer is worth to you: the average order and how much of it you can spend to win it.
- Pick a test budget you can afford for 7–14 days, for example $10–20 a day.
- Give the campaign time: judge results after a week, not after a day.
- Divide spend by results to get your cost per result and compare it with what a customer is worth.
- Keep what works, pause what doesn't and raise the budget gradually.
- In AdAce Ads, set a daily budget cap for the client so no proposal can go above your limit.
Good to know
- Meta has a minimum daily budget that depends on your currency and on what you pay for; Ads Manager shows it when you set the budget.
- An ad set usually leaves the learning phase after about 50 results in a week; until then costs jump around.
- Your ad budget is paid to Meta directly; AdAce Ads adds no markup to your ad spend.
