GA4 setup wizard: property, web stream, key event and Ads link
Setting up GA4 for a new client usually takes an afternoon of clicks. The wizard does it in one plan: you see what will be created, confirm, and the service does the rest.
What it does
Fields: GA4 account, property name, website URL, time zone and currency (by default from the Google Ads account), the key event (generate_lead by default), which Google Ads accounts to link and whether to enable auto-tagging. First you get a dry-run plan of what exists and what will be created.
Execution creates the property, the web stream with its G- measurement ID, the key event immediately (no waiting a day), the Google Ads link and auto-tagging — each step searching for existing items first, reading back and logging. The property is linked to the client right away, so reports start working.
Why it helps
- A correct GA4 setup in minutes, the same way for every client.
- No duplicates — existing items are reused.
- Partial failures are shown step by step with reasons.
How to set it up
- In Tracking, grant GA4 setup access (Google asks for the edit permission).
- Open “Create GA4 property” from the GA4 block or the audit.
- Fill in the fields and review the plan.
- Run it, then put the G- tag on the site via Tag Manager publishing or GA4's detected tag option.
Good to know
- The wizard works inside existing GA4 accounts; creating a new GA4 account requires accepting terms in Google.
- Up to 30 GA4 actions per hour per client; owners and admins only.
